Learning Report on Quadruple Helix work

The Learning Report on LM International’s Quadruple Helix Work examines the challenges and opportunities that arise when fostering cross-sector collaboration among academia, the private sector, civil society, and the public sector - core to LM’s global strategy under Agenda 2030. Drawing on interviews and field observations, the report investigates how differences in organisational culture, communication styles and institutional logic can hinder or enhance the co-creation process within such partnerships.

Key issues explored include how siloed thinking, conflicting mindsets (aid-oriented versus profit-driven), misaligned expectations and language barriers affect collaboration. The report also critically examines the role of trust, intercultural competence, and the establishment of shared goals and communication structures in building more effective partnerships.

It seeks to answer how diverse sectors can bridge these gaps and collaborate more efficiently to maximise innovation and sustainable development impact. Ultimately, the report recommends moving from silos to synergy by building trust, defining roles early, adopting clear communication principles, and cultivating mutual understanding through shared leadership and experienced intermediaries.
